Codex Electronica
Who knew that producing the electronic version of Rare Bird of Truth was going to be so much work?
It’s been a steep learning curve to get my head around the three standards involved in putting an epub document together. One wonders if the rumours circulating about Apple doing for books what they’ve done for music might not be a bad thing: at the moment it’s far from easy for the average Chum to put an e-book together.
Amongst many considerations, I’ve included notes on the cover design and rare-bird dinkus. As well as adding informative content for those using screen readers, these add some unique content to the e-book version.
So what’s an epub? It’s an open standard (or three) electronic book format readable by many popular devices and software packages including Lexcycle Stanza, Adobe Digital Editions, BookGlutton, Mobipocket, Calibre, Okular, Amazon Kindle™, Sony Reader™, Barnes and Noble nook and the list grows. I use Stanza on my iPhone.
In any case, that’s what we’ve done and so you may now purchase on this very web site the first-ever Melba Gully Press e-book. Enjoy!

Our first production

Well the production of our first design title, Neal’s own Rare Bird of Truth, is over and the book has been printed.
All those months of effort have paid off, and I’m happy to say everyone is delighted with the result, including Neal himself.
Book launches soon in Melbourne and Sydney, but the book has already been shipped to many bookstores. All that’s left now is to Go Forth and Multiple-Buy!
